Arkham Horror: The Board Game (3rd Edition)

Not to be confused with the card game we also stock. This is the big cooperative board game set in 1926 Arkham, where you and up to five other investigators try to stop an Ancient One before the town collapses. The map is built from large neighbourhood tiles chosen by the scenario, and you win by completing that scenario's story before doom gets out of hand. Each round you take two actions: move, gather clues, fight monsters, trade, or research. Skill tests are dice rolls against your stats, needing fives and sixes. Then the mythos phase draws tokens that spawn monsters, spread doom, and push the story forward through a codex of cards. A full game runs two to three hours, and each scenario changes the whole board. It rewards a committed group of three or four who prefer story and tension to tight optimisation. Book a long table.
