Space Base

You command a station with twelve docking bays and fill it with ships that pay out whenever the dice land on their number. The first player to 40 points triggers the end. On your turn you roll two dice and use either the total or each die separately, collecting credits, income or points from your ships in those bays. Then you may buy a ship card from the market and slide it into its numbered bay. The clever part is the ship already there: it flips to its red side at the top of the bay and pays you on everyone else's turns. Every roll gives every player something, so there is almost no waiting. Heavier than it looks but self-teaching in two rounds, it is what we suggest to groups who liked Catan's dice but not the trading. Allow an hour with four or five.
