Deadwood 1876

You lodge in one of three saloons in a gold-rush town, and everyone under your roof is your team, for now. Safes around the table each hide a badge, some gold, or a showdown gun. After the final turn the richest team goes to the showdown, where teammates turn on each other and the last one standing wins. On your turn you play cards to challenge another player for a safe, with dice and card bonuses deciding it. Badges buy extra turns near the end, gold gets your team to the final, and guns are for the showdown itself. Spend your best cards on the team and you are defenceless later; hold them back and you look suspicious. A light dice game with a nasty ending; our regulars enjoy the pull between helping and hoarding. Works from two to nine, so it fits an odd-sized table, in half an hour.
