Words Are Hard

One player holds the deck and takes on challengers one at a time. The dealer flips a card to show a picture, and both of you race to say a word starting with the same letter as that picture and then slap the card. Slap before you say a valid word and you lose. The winner keeps the deck and faces the next person, and whoever holds the most cards at the end wins. Duels take seconds, so this is the game we hand out while people are still arriving or ordering at the café. Children can play adults on nearly equal terms, because the pressure is the whole point and vocabulary barely matters. As light as a game gets; if you liked Dobble you will know what to do with it. Buy it for the glovebox, not the shelf.
