Undaunted: Normandy

You command American or German infantry after D-Day, through twelve scenarios on modular tiles. Each scenario sets an objective, usually control points to hold, and the first side to reach it wins. Your army is a deck of cards. Every turn you draw four, bid one for initiative, then play the rest: a rifleman card moves or fires that squad, a scout card pushes into new tiles and clears fog cards from your deck, a sergeant card recruits more. Shooting is one ten-sided die against a number set by cover and distance. Every hit you take removes a card for good, so a squad that keeps getting shot stops answering orders. It is the wargame for people who think they do not like wargames: forty-five minutes, rules learned in one scenario, no hex tables to read. A strong pick for two friends who want a campaign spanning several evenings.
