UNO: Teams

You are playing UNO in pairs. Matching works as ever, but your partner sits across from you and you win together. A team only wins when both partners have emptied their hands, so racing ahead and leaving your teammate with ten cards achieves nothing. A few team cards let you help each other, and the UNO call still applies whenever either of you is down to one card. The team rule fixes what makes classic UNO drag at a big table: players who are out sit and wait. Here you are invested until your partner is done, and you plan for two hands instead of one. Bring it to a family gathering or a corporate icebreaker where an even number of people want a familiar game with a twist. It wants at least four and is at its best with six.
