Monopoly Deal

You win by laying down three complete property sets of different colours. The deck holds property, money and action cards, and there is no board: just your hand, your bank and your properties. On your turn you draw two cards and play up to three: bank money, add properties, or play an action such as charging rent, taking a property from a rival, or the Deal Breaker that steals a whole completed set. A Just Say No card cancels an action against you. Fifteen minutes is a fair estimate, which makes it the version of Monopoly people will actually agree to play. It is a family game first, easy for kids of eight, but the steals keep adults engaged. Good for a table of four or five, at the café or at home, and one of the easiest boxes to teach in five minutes.
